Broome & The Kimberleys Tour - July 2011

Setting up camp Kimberley-style!

Sometimes a long walk, especially to Bell Gorge....

...but always rewarding!

Bell Gorge

Tunnel Creek...

...and the ponds on the other side after waist deep crawling
past the crocs!

The Boab Tree, which only grows
where it can find a supply of water, became our
friend on the journey. Such an unusual tree, its
only found in Australia and Africa.

The amazing reflections at Windjana Gorge

Freshwater crocs show no interest in us!
We
crossed this river beside our campsite at 6am, over
our heads at times, with our shoes, towel and day
pack in a polystyrene box in front of us.

At times the walks weren't easy, yet the flowers
were always stunning!

We simply couldn't get enough of the beautiful
scenery!

BBQ and fun night at El Questro Station

Its always hard to beat a soak in the hot springs
under the palms!

Despite being in the outback, civilisation was never
too far away

And of course we had to celebrate Gary's birthday on
tour!

The start of the famous Gibb River
Road, where the tar-seal meets the washboard
corrugations. Very rough driving at times, what an
experience!

Some of the locals around Lake Argyle and the Ord
River

We finally arrived at the Bungle Bungles - note the beehive rock
formations

The Bungle Bungles are best seen from the
air....

There was plenty of walking
through the Bungles, the colours were amazing!

Echidna Chasm in the Bungles is like another world!

Our guide/driver/cook/nurse/tyre changer Cheryl was
even a florist. This is what she picked just around
the Chasm on our walk that morning!
Our final night in the Bungles - such spectacular
colours at sunset
